Due to some unfortunate health issues with Alessio Sakara the rematch that was set to occur at UFC 158 between him and Patrick Cote has been canceled. Looking to make the best of the situation Patrick Cote has decided to this opportunity to drop down to the welterweight division. He announced his decision recently via Twitter, stating “After a year of thinking and a good talk with my coaches and nutritionist, its time, my next fight will be at 170lbs. Thanks for the support UFC!”
Shortly after, the UFC announced that Patrick will be making his debut at welterweight against Strikeforce veteran Bobby Voelker (24-8) at UFC 158 at the Bell Centre on March 16th in Montreal, Canada. This contest will be a big fight for Cote as he looks to make a big splash inside an already stacked UFC welterweight division.
The Brazilian Top Team family would like to wish the Predator all the best in his debut at 170lbs and we look forward to seeing him victorious that day.
